It is only normal for your teeth to become discolored over time. Stains can be caused by consuming tea, coffee, a number of foods, and of course by smoking. The good news is that the effects of these stains are not permanent and can be easily removed, leaving you once again with a beautiful smile. Although you could try any one of the “Over-the-Counter” teeth whitening products currently on the market, most of them are only marginally effective.
Simple Teeth Whitening
Dr. Alsouss is proud to offer his patients the Zoom chairside teeth whitening process, the same process used on the television show Extreme Makeover. This process is simple, painless, and can typically take approximately one hour to complete.
The Zoom teeth whitening process involves covering your gums, lips, and eyes to protect them from the UV light used in the process. Your teeth are then covered with a special gel containing 25% hydrogen peroxide. The UV light activates the gel helping to whiten your teeth. Teeth whitening is considered to be one of the safest of all dental procedures. It typically takes three sessions lasting 15 minutes each to achieve the best possible results.
A new layer of gel is applied between each of the treatments to ensure the best results. Actual results will vary from person to person, but the average person can expect their teeth to become anywhere from 6 to 10 shades whiter than they started with. Bear in mind that these are average results, your teeth may or may not achieve a specific level of whiteness.
While some patients may want their teeth to look as white as a sheet of paper, most tend to want natural looking teeth. The important thing to remember is that the process of teeth whitening is to remove the stains on your teeth. In doing this, Dr. Alsouss is able to bring out the natural color of your teeth, so the final color of your teeth depends entirely on their natural color. If your teeth are not naturally pure white, you may have to have veneers installed to achieve your desired results.
